LOVERS AT HAMPSTEAD HEATH

Cyanotype on silk satin, 2 hour exposure on Hampstead Heath, photograms of two bodies,  2x5 metre, installed in front of an open window, London, 2018

Part of ‘Lesbian Love Story’, Slade MFA Degree Show, 2018.

“It's hot love and body outlines
bathed in shady fresh breeze from an open window” (Shell Like, 2018).

Taking inspiration from early lesbian photography like Tee Corinne and Joan Biren, 'Lovers at Hampstead Heath' is a portrait of lesbian lovers, their bodies in different moments in time; an embrace, a kiss, resting next to each other, or having sex, captured in public in a park historically well-known as a place for lesbian and gay cruising.

'Lesbian Love Story' use the cyanotype to investigate ideas of lesbian representation, imagery and visibility. Using the sun as exposure and the chemicals as a method of capturing moments of time as changes in nuances of blue, lesbian bodies transforms into abstract body parts conveying feelings instead of specific identities or biological bodies.
